GREEN SMUDGE RECORDS
GREEN SMUDGE RECORDS
is an independent "record" label dedicated to promoting and releasing music we like. Based out of Guelph, Ontario, we enjoy various sights and sounds that interest us. We enjoy sharing them too, because we believe they might interest you. At this time, we primarily do this through CD production, which you can read about here. You can find our catalogue thus far here. If you're interested in us or one of the bands in our troupe, you can talk to us here. Here's some other things below to tide you until then, which may change often...
First a few tunes...
IN RECENT MEMORY...
OUR DEAR FRIENDS hosted our "flagship" soldiers, Pinwheel and Minutia, at a real, genuine "bush party" out in Rockwood way. Our dear pals in State Hand played too. "By the end we all had to be dragged kicking and screaming off stage. I played a tune for a horse. A peacock and all its babies too which of course I had never seen before" somebody probably said. Our friend said "heat makes life" before setting himself on fire a little bit. A great victory for everyone involved.
Our bastard children, Orthopraxy, have finally found it a suitable to release their debut, "The Department of Eternal Affairs", which they believe will "climb the top 40 so fast that (Unrepeatable)". We celebrate this triumph although hope that next time they will not say such horrible things.
The Jimmy Jazz, home of many of our greatest failures and victories, graciously had Minutia join in on a bill with the everso fantastic Namedroppers and Hydrotonics. Our pal Lukas of the equally fantastic Messlure, having been around this gig, filmed it very well and then it ended up in our hands. So we have put it here to share with you. Minutia, of course, released their debut album to a semblance of success and so now we have decided to make them our "cash cow" and record another one.
Our resident pop star heroes, Beep, played a few songs a little while ago in a room somewhere at CFRU (local radio station) which we haven't been able to find since. They said that they would really like to go back to this room as they "forgot their amp" or "forgot their shoes". We liked that performance so much we made them record an album, which they are still doing as far as we know.
